Attaching Mounting Brackets to the JA1500 Junos Space Appliance

To install a JA1500 Junos Space appliance in a rack, you need to attach mounting brackets to the appliance. A JA1500 Junos Space appliance is shipped with front ears, midpoint brackets, rear mount rails, and mounting screws. The outer edges of the mounting brackets extend the width of the chassis to 19 in. (48.2 cm). The spacing between rails and adjacent racks must provide sufficient ventilation to the appliance.

The chassis and brackets are designed to allow front, middle, or rear mounting in a 19–inch rack.

Note: You need a #2 Phillips screwdriver to mount the brackets.

To attach a mounting bracket to a JA1500 Junos Space appliance:

    1. Place the JA1500 Junos Space appliance on a flat and stable surface.
    2. Depending on how you want to mount the JA1500 Junos Space appliance in a rack, align the mounting brackets along the front, rear, or center of a side panel of the JA1500 Junos Space appliance chassis. For example, if you want to center-mount the JA1500 Junos Space appliance, align the mounting brackets along the center of the side panel.
    3. Align the bottom hole in the mounting bracket with a hole on the side panel of the appliance chassis.
    4. Insert a mounting screw (provided in the accessory box shipped with the appliance) into each of the two aligned holes. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver to tighten the screw to the chassis. Ensure that other holes of the mounting bracket are aligned with the corresponding holes in the side panel.
    5. Insert screws into other holes of the mounting bracket that are aligned with the holes in the side panel of the appliance chassis. Tighten the screws to the chassis using the Phillips screwdriver.
