Installing the JSA7800 in a Rack
Installing the JSA7800 Appliance
Place the shipping container on a flat surface and carefully remove the hardware components.
To install the JSA7800 appliance:
- Mount the JSA appliance in your server rack using the attached mounting brackets. See Installing the JSA7800 Appliance Using Front-and-Rear-Mounting Flush to a Rack.
- Plug the power cords into each of the AC receptacle on
the rear panel. See Figure 1.
Figure 1: Connecting the AC Power Cord - Plug the other end of the power cords into the wall socket.
Plug each power cord into a separate power circuit to ensure that the device continues to receive power if one of the power circuits fails.
- Plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the
back panel.
When you turn on the power, the internal port uses two LEDs to indicate the LAN connection status, as shown in Figure 2.

This cable is a console cable and DB-9 connector with 1-8 pinouts.
The connector is shipped with your JSA7800 appliance.
Table 1 describes the details of DB-9 console port pinouts for the JSA7800 appliance.

Installing the JSA7800 Appliance Using Front-and-Rear-Mounting Flush to a Rack
The chassis package includes a pair of rack rail assemblies and mounting screws required to install the chassis in a rack. Each rail assembly consists of an inner, a middle, and an outer rail, as shown in Figure 3.

1 — Inner rail | 4 — Outer rail |
2 — Locking tab | 5 — Locking tab |
3 — Middle rail |
To mount the JSA7800 appliance in a four-post rack:
- Install the inner rail extensions.
Pull the inner rail out of the outer rail until it is fully extended as illustrated. Press the locking tab down to release the inner rail, as shown in Figure 4. Each inner rail has a locking tab that secures the chassis when completely extended from the rack.
Figure 4: Sliding and Detaching the Inner Rails Place the inner rails against the sides of the chassis, aligning the chassis hooks with the holes in the inner rails, as shown in Figure 5.
Slide the inner rail toward the front of the chassis until the inner rail clicks into the locked position.
Secure the inner rails to the chassis with the screws provided.
Figure 5: Installing the Inner Rails Note Each inner rail of the JSA7800 appliance has a locking tab. The locking tabs secure the chassis when it is either installed or completely extended from the rack.
- Install the outer rails:
- Press the locking tabs upward at the rear of the middle rails, and slide the middle rails into the outer rails.
- Insert the front hooks of the outer rails into the front
slots of the rack, and use the M5 screws to secure the front of the
outer rails to the rack, as shown in Figure 6 and Figure 7.
Figure 6: Inserting the Front Mounting Rails - Extend the outer rails, and adjust the length to fit within the posts of the rack.
- Insert the rear hooks of the outer rails into the rear
slots of the rack, and use the screws to secure the rear of the outer
rails to the rack, as shown in Figure 7.
Figure 7: Inserting the Front and Rear Mounting Rails
- Slide the middle rails away from the rear of the outer rails.
- Position the ball-bearing shuttle at the front of the middle rails.
- Align the chassis inner rails with the ball-bearing shuttle,
as shown in Figure 8.
Figure 8: Aligning the Chassis Rails with the Ball-Bearing Shuttle - With even pressure on both sides, slide the chassis inner rails into the middle rails until the locking tab of the inner rail clicks into the front of the middle rail, locking the chassis into the fully extended position.
- Depress the locking tabs on both sides simultaneously, and slide the chassis into the rear of the rack.
- Use the screws to secure the chassis handles to the rack.
