SNMPv3 Community Settings

The security device administrator can configure an SNMPv1 or SNMPv2c community under an SNMPv3 framework. In an SNMPv3 community, the administrator can enforce access control to SNMPv1 or SNMPv2c requests as well.

The community tag is used to associate the given community with the target from which the SNMP-get packet was sent and to which the SNMP trap packet would be navigated. If there is no community tag value, there would be no connection between the community and the target that is used to make a simple authentication in SNMPv1/SNMPv2c packet.

Communities

The Communities table lists SNMPv3 communities configured on the security device and the following information for each:

Index: Specifies the index number of the community.

Name: Specifies the name of the group, or community, of administrators who can view data gathered by the SNMP agent and receive SNMP notification of system events.

Tag: Specifies the tag number of the community.

Configure: To remove a community, click Remove.

Creating a New SNMPv3 Community
