Configuring Broadcast-Related IP Tasks

You can perform broadcast-related tasks using the ip broadcast-address and ip directed-broadcast commands.

Before you configure IP, you must create the lower-layer interfaces over which IP traffic flows. All IP configurations will be removed from the interface when you issue the no ip interface command in Interface Configuration mode.

To configure broadcast information:

• Specify the broadcast IP address for an interface.
  host1(config-if)#ip broadcast-address 255.255.255.255

  Use the no version to restore the default IP broadcast address.

• Enable translation of directed broadcasts to physical broadcasts.
  host1(config-if)#ip directed-broadcast

  Use the no version to disable the function.
