Disabling Ethernet Interfaces

Use the shutdown command to disable an Ethernet interface.

To disable an Ethernet interface and prevent any processing of packets on that interface:

• Issue the shutdown command in Interface Configuration mode.
  host1(config-if)#shutdown

  Use the no version to restart a disabled Ethernet interface.
