Methods for Locating Information in E Series and JunosE Documentation
You can look for information within the documentation set in the following ways:
Search Tools
To look for information using search tools:
- In a PDF file, use the Find command (Ctrl+F) or the Search command (Shift+Ctrl+F) and type one or more words or a phrase to search for.
- From the Juniper Networks Technical Documentation Web site (http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/), do one of the following:
- Use the Documentation Search facility in the right column of the screen. Enter a word or phrase in the text box, and click Search.
- Use the Search facility at the top right of the page. Enter a word or phrase in the text box, and click the arrow to start the search.
Indexes in a Book
Most books have an index.
- Book indexes of the PDF versions are located at the bottom of the Bookmarks panel in the navigation pane.
- In the new book HTML versions, Index is a tab in the left navigation pane. The Index tab toggles with the Contents tab.
- In HTML (Frames) versions, a link to the Index is provided near the top of the left navigation pane after the List of Tables link. The index is also the last entry in the list of main topics.
- In HTML (No Frames) versions, a link is provided to the Index [Index] on every page. The index is also the last entry in the list of main topics.
To find information using an index:
- In a PDF file index, click the page number next to the entry or subentry to go directly to where that topic is mentioned or discussed in that book.
- In the index of the new book HTML versions, click the hot link (blue but not underlined text or number) for the entry or subentry.
- In the index of an HTML (Frames) version file, click a blue underlined link to go directly to where that topic is mentioned or discussed in that book.
- In the index of an HTML (No Frames) version file, click the hot link provided next to the entry or subentry. The hot link (blue and underlined) is usually a number between 1 and 4.
Note: HTML Frames and No Frames versions for all JunosE Software and E Series Broadband Services Router guides were last published in May 2010 for JunosE Release 11.1.x.
Tables of Contents in a Book
Most books have a Table of Contents. To locate the contents:
- In a PDF file, the contents are listed by main topic in the Bookmarks panel in the navigation pane at the left.
- In the left navigation pane of the book HTML version, click the icon on the left of the book title to expand the entire book contents, or click [+] left of any topic to expand the contents of that topic.
- In an HTML (Frames) file, click the Expand TOC link in the left navigation pane to display the complete contents listing. To display only the main topics, click the Collapse TOC link in the left navigation pane.
- In an HTML (No Frames) file, click the [Contents] link at the left of the window to display the complete contents listing.
Note: HTML Frames and No Frames versions for all JunosE Software and E Series Broadband Services Router guides were last published in May 2010 for JunosE Release 11.1.x.
JunosE Comprehensive Index
The JunosE Comprehensive Index combines the index entries from all the JunosE software configuration guides and command reference guides. It was last published in May 2008 for JunosE Release 9.2.x. Each index entry indicates the book and page number where you can find the topic mentioned or discussed. After you locate the entry you want, note the book name and page number.
1. Open the PDF version of the book and go to the page number at the bottom right or left of the text page (not the PDF page number of the PDF file itself).
2. Open the HTML version of the book in a browser window and use the software book's index to locate the topic. Then click the blue underlined topic link to go to the topic discussion.
Note: Because of the tools used to create the Comprehensive Index, you cannot click an entry in it and go to the topic discussion directly.
