Ethernet Overview
Ethernet modules support the following Ethernet interfaces:
- Fast Ethernet
- Gigabit Ethernet
- 10-Gigabit Ethernet
This section describes features that are available with Ethernet interfaces.
Ethernet modules use the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) to obtain MAC addresses for outgoing Ethernet frames. For more information about ARP, see JunosE IP, IPv6, and IGP Configuration Guide .

Features
Ethernet interfaces support the following features:
- Routing of IP packets.
- Quality of Service (QoS) classification.
- High-density Ethernet. (For information, see High-Density Ethernet .)
- Virtual LAN (VLAN) configurations. (For information, see JunosE Link Layer Configuration Guide .)
- Stacked Virtual LAN (S-VLAN) configurations. (For information, see JunosE Link Layer Configuration Guide.)
- IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation configurations. (For information, see JunosE Link Layer Configuration Guide.)
- Configurations with upper-layer protocols. (For information, see JunosE Link Layer Configuration Guide.)
- Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP. For information, see JunosE Link Layer Configuration Guide.)
- Multinetting. (For information, see JunosE Link Layer Configuration Guide.)
