ISDN Configuration Overview
To configure ISDN interfaces:
- Order an ISDN line from your telecommunications service provider. Contact your service provider for more information.
- Configure at least one ISDN interface (physical interface). See ISDN.
- Configure at least one dialer interface (logical interface). See Understanding Dialer Interfaces.
Configure one of the following backup methods on each dialer interface:
- Configure dial backup if you want to use ISDN to backup the primary device interfaces. See ISDN.
- Configure dialer filters for dial-on-demand routing backup. You can configure dial-on-demand routing with or without OSPF support. See Understanding Dial-on-Demand Routing Backup.
- Configure dialer watch. See Understanding Dialer Watch.
- Configure dial-in or callback. See Understanding Dial-in and Callback.

Note: You can only configure one backup method per dialer interface.
- (Optional) Configure bandwidth on demand. See Understanding Bandwidth on Demand.
