Release Information
Statement introduced in Release 10.0 of Junos OS.
Description
Configure the voice activity detection (VAD) feature for the specified analog station template to either disable or enable it for all phones that the station template is applied to. By default, VAD is enabled
For VoIP communication across the IP WAN, VAD detects the presence of speech in an audio signal. VAD can reduce bandwidth usage, computational processing, and network traffic by sending audio packets only if speech is detected.
![]() | Note: Because people are uncomfortable with the total silence that remains during phone conversations when VAD is enabled and no one is speaking, comfort noise generation is often used with VAD to provide familiar background sound. |
