Release Information

Statement introduced in Release 10.0 of Junos OS.

Description

Configure information about the peer call server that provides call handling services and routing for the SRX Series MGW. Although you can configure only one peer call server, you can specify a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for it rather than an IP address so that multiple servers can be used. In this case, the SRX Series survivable call server (SRX Series SCS) sends heartbeat messages to all servers to determine which ones are available. It uses the preferred server, based on the domain name services (DNS) result.

The peer call provides services including auto-attendant, caller ID, direct-inward-dialing, and so forth, for calls that the SRX Series MGW directs to it from its local analog telephones and fax machines and all emergency calls, if SRX Series MGW trunks are not configured to route emergency calls. The peer call server also processes and routes branch SIP calls without the media gateway interceding.

The SRX Series SCS monitors the health of the peer call server in order to determine when to take control and when to return control to it.
