call-type (route pattern)

Release Information
Statement introduced in Release 10.0 of Junos OS.
Description
Specify a type of call for a route pattern entry in the dial plan.
Digit patterns might be patterns that many numbers could match. They can also be fully expressed numbers:
- For example, a digit pattern might specify the pattern for calls to extensions at another branch. Individual calls that match the pattern are routed to the branch. A server at the branch might forward the calls to individuals.
- A dial plan can contain multiple route patterns for the same type of call. For example, for the international call type, you might define several route patterns for digit patterns with different county codes.
- Digit patterns might also be fully expressed numbers,
such are direct-inward-dialing numbers. For example, a digit pattern
might specify the complete number for a fax machine at the branch.
Given availability of configured trunks, calls for fully expressed numbers are routed more quickly than called numbers that match digit patterns because the MGW SCS does not need to resolve them.
If the call that the user places is permitted for the station based on its class of restriction policies, then the call is routed to its destination party using one of the trunks specified for the route pattern. Otherwise, the call is denied, in which case the following message is played to the user:
The number you are dialing cannot be called from this station.
All types of calls except trunk calls apply to the SRX Series SCS only. The trunk call type of call applies to the media gateway only.
Options
class-of-call—Type of call to be routed if its digit pattern matches the digit pattern of a route pattern in the dial plan and the call type is permitted for the station from which the call was made.
- interbranch-call—Specify whether calls to other branches are allowed.
- intrabranch call—These calls are made by users from
one telephone to another within the branch.
They are allowed by default. You cannot change the permission to deny intrabranch calls. Do not specify intrabranch-call as part of a class-of-restriction configuration. It is mentioned here for completeness.
- international-call—Specify whether international
calls are allowed.
International calls are calls made to other countries. They are placed using an access code followed by an ITU-assigned country code and full subscriber number, including area code or city codes.
- local-call—Specify whether local calls are allowed.
Local calls are calls within the same geographic area. They are usually free but might incur per-minute or per-call charges.
- long-distance-call—Specify whether long-distance
calls are allowed.
Long-distance calls, also referred to as toll calls, are directed to numbers outside the local area. They commonly require an access-code and area code in addition to the subscriber number. Although less common today, in the past they also incurred a per-minute toll.
- custom call—Specify whether a user-defined custom
call is allowed.
Custom calls are types of calls other than the predefined call types. You can create multiple custom calls. For example, you might create a custom call called “westford-to-bangalore-allow” to allow interbranch calls made from Westford to Bangalore exclusively.
- emergency-call—Emergency calls can be made by all
users at the local branch, including users of SIP phones that are
not configured.
You cannot change the permission to deny the emergency call type. Do not specify the emergency-call call type as part of a class-of-restriction configuration. It is mentioned here for completeness.
Emergency call digit patterns differ across countries. The SRX Series SCS routes all emergency calls to its local PSTN.
- any--call—Specify that any type of call is allowed.
- trunk-call—Used by the peer call server to route calls back through the media gateway trunks out to the PSTN.
![]() | Note: Only one type of call applies to the media gateway, the trunk call. |
