call-type (policy)
Syntax

Release Information
Statement introduced in Release 10.0 of Junos OS.
Description
Specify the call-type parameter to indicate the type of call that the policy for it applies to. The policy specifies whether the call is allowed or denied.
You define policies for class of restriction configurations. You can define policies for inter-branch, local, long-distance, and international and custom call types.
A class of restriction configuration is applied to a station or a station template. If a policy specifies that a type of call is allowed and its class of restriction configuration is applied to a station, a user is allowed to make the call type from the station’s telephone. A class of restriction configuration assigned to a station takes precedence when a template that specifies a class-of-restriction configuration is also applied to the station.
You can configure many policies for a single class of restriction configuration, but you must configure each one separately.
By default, all classes of calls are denied except emergency calls and intra-branch calls.
![]() | Note: The trunk-call type of call is an exception. The SRX Series media gateway dial plan can include route patterns for the trunk-call call type, but no class of restriction is required for it. |
Apart from trunk-call, the call-type statement for class of restriction policies is applicable when the SRX Series survivable call server is in control.
Options
class-of-call—Type of call for which a policy is defined.
- inter-branch-call—Specify whether calls to other branches are allowed.
- intra-branch-call—Specify calls made by users from one telephone to another within the branch. They are allowed by default. You cannot change the permission to deny intra-branch calls. Do not specify intra-branch-call as part of a class of restriction configuration. It is mentioned here for completeness.
- international-call—Specify whether international
calls are allowed.
International calls are calls made to other countries. They are placed using an access code followed by an ITU-assigned country code and full subscriber number, including area code or city codes.
- local-call—Specify whether local calls are allowed.
Local calls are calls within the same geographic area. They are usually free but might incur per-minute or per-call charges.
- long-distance-call—Specify whether long-distance
calls are allowed.
Long-distance calls, also referred to as toll calls, are directed to numbers outside the local area. They commonly require an access code and area code in addition to the subscriber number. Although less common today, in the past they also incurred a per-minute toll.
- custom call—Specify whether
a user-defined custom call type is allowed.
Custom calls are types of calls other than the predefined call types which you define. You can create multiple custom calls. For example, you might want to create a custom call called westford-to-bangalore-allow to allow inter-branch calls made from Westford to Bangalore exclusively.
- emergency-call—Emergency calls can be made by all
users at the local branch, including users of SIP phones that are
not configured.
You cannot change the permission to deny the emergency call type. Do not specify the emergency-call type of call as part of a class-of-restriction configuration. It is mentioned here for completeness.
Emergency call digit patterns differ across countries. The SRX Series SCS routes all emergency calls to its local PSTN.
- any-call—Specify that any type of call is allowed.
Only one type of call applies to the media gateway, the trunk call.
trunk-call—Used by the peer call server to route calls back through the media gateway trunks to the PSTN.
