Installing Software Upgrades on J Series Services Routers

Note: For more information on migrating a J Series Services Router to a later version of Junos OS, see the Junos OS Migration Guide.

Note: Previously, upgrading images on J Series devices with 256 MB CompactFlash card from Junos OS Release 8.5 and later involved removing unwanted files in the images and removing the Swap Partition. From Junos OS Release 9.2 and later, as an alternative, the software accomplishes the upgrade efficiently to take another snapshot of the CompactFlash card, install the image, and restore configurations.
