Understanding Integrated Convergence Services Media Gateway Trunks and Dial Plans
This topic gives an overview of a dial plan used to specify SRX Series media gateway (SRX Series MGW) trunks.
An SRX Series MGW dial plan contains route patterns that include one or more trunk groups. Each trunk group specifies one or more trunks used to route calls.
A route pattern contains a digit pattern against which called numbers are matched. For an SRX Series MGW dial plan, a route pattern’s digit pattern specifies a trunk access code. The peer call server administrator can use a trunk access code as a prefix to a called number to route it out a trunk belonging to a route pattern with the matching trunk access code.
In addition to identifying trunks, a route pattern specifies a type of call. For an SRX Series MGW dial plan, the call type for all route patterns is trunk-call. Using trunk access codes, the peer call server routes calls out specific trunks not based on whether the call matches a digit pattern that specifies inter-branch, local, long-distance, international or custom call types.
