Understanding Integrated Convergence Services Direct Inward Dialing Lists

This topic covers direct inward dialing (DID) numbers that you can configure as a list for a trunk to be used for assignment to stations. DID numbers are drawn and managed from this pool.

A DID number allows a party who knows the internal extension of a station’s phone to dial the full seven digits to place the call directly rather than going through an operator or auto-attendant.

A DID number cannot be assigned to multiple stations. It must be assigned exclusively to one station. If an incoming call is made to an unassigned DID number, it is directed to and handled by auto-attendant.
