Understanding Station Templates for SRX Series Integrated Convergence Services
This topic explains station templates.
A station template is a set of values that you configure to apply to one or more stations of the same type. You configure templates discretely, not as part of the basic station configuration. Templates for SIP and analog stations contain different parameters.
Templates provide a convenient way to configure parameters for stations sharing the same requirements. You can use templates for many purposes. For example,
- You might configure an analog template called analog-POTS to be used by all POTS telephones and use specific analog station parameters in addition to standard, basic station parameters. (You might also create a separate analog template for faxes.)
- You might configure a SIP template called polycomSIP to be applied to all Polycom phones and use specific SIP station parameters in addition to standard, basic station parameters.
Values configured for a station template are inherited by all stations that it is assigned to. To assign a template to a station, you specify it as the template parameter in the station type configuration.
