Understanding Trunk Group Reusability for SRX Series Integrated Convergence Services

This topic covers reuse of trunk groups across the route patterns of a dial plan.

You can use the same trunk group in one or more route patterns of a dial plan. Consider the following example in which trunk-group-a, which contains three trunks, is used in two route patterns. If a call for Route Pattern 1 is routed through the first trunk of trunk-group-a (fxoTrnk4) and the peer call server attempts to route a call matching Route Pattern 2’s digit pattern through the same trunk for trunk-group-b (fxoTrnk4), it will not be able to do so because the trunk is already used.

However, the peer call server can try to route the call for Route Pattern 2 through the second trunk (fxoTrnk3) of trunk-group-b and it will succeed because the trunk is available. (This example assumes that for Route Pattern 2, the peer call server tried to route the call through all the trunks of trunk-group-c unsuccessfully.)
