Understanding How the Media Gateway Peer Call Server Handles and Routes Calls Outside the Branch for SRX Series Integrated Convergence Services
A dial plan is a configuration that specifies how calls are to be routed. It includes routing entries with digit patterns. If the peer call server’s dial plan includes a routing entry with a digit pattern that a called number matches, the peer call server routes the call to its destination out its PSTN (or other telephony service). Depending on its dial plan configuration and the permissions configured for a station, the peer call server can route calls to other branches (inter-branch calls) and it can route local, long-distance, international, and custom calls. When SRX Series media gateway (SRX Series MGW) trunks are configured, the peer call server may route calls out them.
If SRX Series MGW trunks are configured, emergency calls can be routed locally out an SRX Series MGW PSTN trunk. If not, the SRX Series MGW routes emergency calls to the peer call server to route out its PSTN trunks.
![]() | Note: Emergency calls and intra-branch calls do not require class of restriction specifications. There are no restrictions placed on them. Anyone can make these types of calls. For other types of calls, when the peer call server is in control, its configuration and the station configuration must allow the call. |
