Understanding the SRX Series Integrated Convergence Services Survivable Call Server Features
The SRX Series survivable call server (SRX Series SCS) routes calls and provides feature transparency in the event that the remote SIP peer call server is unreachable. It includes the following features and services:
- Monitoring of the peer call server through SIP keepalive
messages used to determine if the call server is responsive. If it
is not, the SRX Series SCS takes control.
The SRX Series SCS is invoked immediately if a local interface, such as the WAN interface, goes down.
- Use of trunk access codes for prefix-based PSTN or other telephony service routing. The administrator can configure a prefix in the dial plan to route a call directly to the PSTN.
- The SRX Series SCS supports the following calling features
when the system is in survivability state:
- Voicemail answering and retrieval. After a configured number of rings, the system forwards the call to a defined voicemail number. Users of local extensions can retrieve their voicemail by dialing specific digits.
- Digit manipulation for remapping digits.
- Caller ID support for detection and transmission of caller information (for U.S. standards).
- Call waiting for SIP phones in which the user is alerted
about a pending, incoming call.
This feature is not supported for analog phones.
- Call hold and resume in which SIP calls may be placed
on hold and resumed by the SIP phone user.
This feature is not supported for analog phones.
- Pickup groups, hunt groups, and ring groups to allow for various ways in which groups of users can respond to an incoming call, based on their availability.
- Music played when calls are on hold (music on hold).
- Local auto attendant with a fixed message, allowing the caller to enter an extension number to reach the call destination (auto attendant).
