Removing the Routing Engine Panel and Fan Tray
The Routing Engine panel and fan tray is located immediately
to the right of the Routing Engines, as shown in Figure 2. The unit weighs approximately 2 lb
(1 kg).
To remove the Routing Engine panel and fan tray, follow this
procedure (see Figure 31):
- Place an electrostatic bag or antistatic mat on a flat, stable surface.
- Attach
an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist
and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis. Verify
that the router is attached to a proper earth ground. For more information about ESD, see Preventing
Electrostatic Discharge Damage.
- Loosen the thumbscrews on the right side of the Routing
Engine panel, using a Phillips screwdriver if necessary.
- Grasp the handle between the thumbscrews and pull
the unit halfway out of the chassis.
- Place one hand under the unit to support it, slide
it completely out of the chassis, and place it on the antistatic mat
or in the electrostatic bag.
