Maintaining the SSBs

The router can have a System and Switch Board (SSB) in each of the two uppermost slots on the front of the chassis, as shown in Figure 1. To maintain the SSBs, perform the following procedures on a regular basis:

• Check the LEDs on the SSB faceplates. The green LED labeled ONLINE and blue LED labeled MASTER light steadily on the master SSB when it is functioning normally. For more information, see SSB Components.
• Issue the CLI show chassis ssb command to check the status of the SSBs. As shown in the sample output, when two SSBs are installed the master SSB is marked as Master, and the other SSB as Backup:
