Replacing Crypto Accelerator Modules on J2320 and J2350 Routers
The Crypto Accelerator Module is a processor card that enhances
performance of cryptographic algorithms used in IP security (IPSec)
services. The Crypto Module is an optional feature on J2320 and J2350 Services Routers.
Figure 80 shows the
location of the Crypto Accelerator Module on J2320 and J2350 routers.

To remove or install a Crypto Accelerator Module, use the following
procedures:
Place an electrostatic bag or antistatic mat on
a flat stable surface to receive the Crypto Module.
Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding
strap to your bare wrist and connect the strap to the ESD point on
the chassis, or to an outside ESD point if the router is disconnected
from earth ground. For more information about ESD, see Preventing Electrostatic
Discharge Damage.
Press and release the power button to power off
the Services Router. Wait for the POWER LED to turn off.
Unplug the power cord or cable from the power source
receptacle.
Locate the Crypto Module on the system board (see Figure 80).
Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the three
screws from top of the Crypto Accerator Module, as shown in Figure 81.

Gently
lift the Crypto Module to disengage it from the connector on the system
board, as shown in Figure 81.
Place the Crypto Module on the antistatic mat or
in the electrostatic bag.
Installing a J2320 or J2350 Crypto Accelerator Module
To install a Crypto Accelerator Module:
Take the following steps if you have not already
done so:
Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
to your bare wrist and connect the strap to the ESD point on the chassis,
or to an outside ESD point if the router is disconnected from earth
ground. For more information about ESD, see Preventing Electrostatic
Discharge Damage.
Press and release the power button to power off the Services Router.
Wait for the POWER LED to turn off.
Unplug the power cord or cable from the power source receptacle.
Locate the Crypto Module connector on the system
board (see Figure 82).
Remove the Crypto Module from its electrostatic
bag.
Align the notches in the Crypto Module with the
notches in the connector on the system board and push the Crypto Module
down flat, as shown in Figure 82.

or J2350 Crypto Accelerator Module
Insert
the three screws and tighten them until snug. Do not overtighten.
Press and release the power button to power on the router. Verify
that the POWER LED lights steadily.
Verify that the Crypto Module is correctly installed
by issuing the show chassis hardware command, as shown in
the following example:
user@host> show chassis hardware
