Troubleshooting the TX Matrix Plus SIBs

Problem

During normal operation:

  • All TXP-F13 SIBs, TXP-F2S SIBs, and TXP-T1600 SIBs are online.

The following alarms and LEDs indicate a problem with the SIBs:

  • On the craft interface, the red FAIL LED for a TXP-F13 SIB is on.
  • An alarm occurs as shown in Table 1.
  • Command output shows the SIB is Offline.

Solution

To troubleshoot the SIBs:

  1. Check the LEDs on the craft interface:
    • Red FAIL LED for a TXP-F13 SIB on the craft interface is on—Use the CLI to check the status of the TXP-F13 SIB. For information about using the display, see TX Matrix Plus Craft Interface Overview.
    • FAIL LED is lit steadily—Remove and install the TXP-F13 SIB or TXP-F2S SIB again. If the FAIL LED still lights steadily, the SIB is not functioning properly. Contact your customer support representative.
  2. Verify that the TXP-F13 SIBs SIB F13, TXP-F2S SIBs SIB F2S, and TXP-T1600 SIBs are online by issuing the show chassis sibs command:

  3. Make sure the TXP-F13 SIB is properly seated in the midplane. Verfiy that each ejector handle has been turned clockwise and is tight.

Either a fiber-optic array cable is not connected or the fiber-optic array cable is not seated correctly.

Verify that the fiber-optic array cables are connected correctly.

 

Check SIB F13 sib-number VCSELs

Check SIB F13 sib-number VCSELs

A VCSEL in a TXP-F13 SIB has a low bias current condition in one of more of its channels.

To isolate the problem:

  1. Check the system log messages for CRC errors on the receiving TXP-T1600 SIB in the LCC.
  2. Issue the show chassis fabric plane extensive command for link errors on the receiving TXP-T1600 SIB in the LCC.
  3. If there are CRC errors or link errors, replace the TXP-F13 SIB.

A VCSEL in an F13 SIB has reported loss of optical signal (LOS).

Clean the fiber-optic cables and fiber-optic array ports. Verify that the fiber-optic cables are connected properly.

 

SFC: SIB F13 sib-number XC Links

SFC: SIB F13 sib-number XC HSL Link Error

The TXP-F13 SIB has detected errors on the optical links to the T1600 router line-card chassis (LCC).

  1. Clean the fiber-optic array cables and ports on the TXP-F13 SIB and TXP-T1600 SIB.
  2. Verify that the fiber-optic array cables are connected correctly to the SIBs.
  3. Bring the TXP-F13 SIB and TXP-T1600 SIB online.
  4. If the problem persists, isolate the problem by methodically replacing the each fiber-optic arrray cable, TXP-F13 SIB, and TXP-T1600 SIB with a spare.
  5. If you are unable to isolate the problem, contact JTAC.

An error has occured in the link between an F2S SIB and F13 SIB.

To isolate the problem:

  1. Replace the TXP-F2 SIB with a spare.
  2. If the problem persists, replace the TXP-F13 SIB with a spare.
  3. If you are unable to isolate the problem, contact JTAC.
