Powering On and Powering Off the SRX240 Services Gateway
This topic describes the following procedures:
Powering On the SRX240 Services Gateway
To power on the services gateway:
- Ensure that you have connected the power supply to the device.
- Insert the plug into an AC power source receptacle
(for SRX240 Services Gateway Low Memory, High Memory with AC Power
Supply, PoE, and Integrated Convergence Services models).
Or
Attach the power cable to the DC power source (for SRX240 Services Gateway High Memory with DC Power Supply model). Ensure that DC Power Source is connected as per the guidelines recommended in Connecting the SRX240 Services Gateway High Memory with DC Power Supply Model to a DC Power Source.
- The device starts as the power supply completes its startup sequence. The Power LED glows during startup and remains on steadily when the device is operating normally.
![]() | Note: After the power supply is turned on, it can take up to 60 seconds for status indicators—such as the Status and Power LEDs on the front panel of chassis to show that the power supply is functioning normally. |
![]() | Note: It is recommended to issue the CLI command request system power-off when you want to power off the device immediately after the device is powered on. |
Powering Off the SRX240 Services Gateway
You can power off the services gateway in one of the following ways:
- Graceful shutdown—Press and immediately release
the Power button. The device begins gracefully shutting down the operating
system and then powers itself off.

Warning: Use the graceful shutdown method to power off or reboot the services gateway.
- Immediate shutdown—Press the Power button and hold
it for 10 seconds. The device immediately powers itself off without
shutting down the operating system.

Warning: Use the immediate shutdown method as a last resort to recover the services gateway if the services gateway operating system is not responding to the graceful shutdown method.
![]() | Warning: Do not press the Power button while the device is shutting down. |
![]() | Caution: Immediate shutdown can result in data loss and corruption of the file system. |
![]() | Note: To remove power completely from the device, unplug the AC power cord (for SRX240 Services Gateway Low Memory, High Memory with AC Power Supply, PoE, and Voice models) or switch off the DC power source (SRX240 Services Gateway High Memory with DC Power Supply). After powering off a power supply, wait at least 10 seconds before turning it back on. After powering on a power supply, wait at least 10 seconds before turning it off. The Power button on the services gateway is a standby power switch. If you press the Power button to power off the device when it is still connected to a power source, 12 V (for SRX240 Services Gateway Low Memory, High Memory with AC Power Supply model, and High Memory with DC Power Supply models) / 52 V (SRX240 Services Gateway PoE and Voice models) power will still be available in the chassis and the device will be fully powered off. |
![]() | Tip: When you are powering off the device, the following message is displayed: Turning the system power off. You can now safely remove the power cable to completely disconnect the power from the device. |
![]() | Note: You can use the request system reboot CLI command to schedule a reboot to the services gateway using request system reboot. |
