Packing the TX Matrix Plus Router for Shipment

To pack the TX Matrix Plus router for shipment:

1. Retrieve the shipping crate and packing materials in which the TX Matrix Plus router was originally shipped. If you do not have these materials, contact your Juniper Networks representative about approved packaging materials.
2. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
3. On the console or other management device connected to the master Routing Engine, enter CLI operational mode. To shut down the TX Matrix Plus router software:

   Note: The request system halt sfc 0 command halts all Routing Engines on the control plane from which it was issued. To reboot a Routing Engine that has been halted, you must connect through the console. For more information about system commands, see the Junos System Basics and Services Command Reference.

4. Shut down power to the TX Matrix Plus router by pressing the circuit breakers for all power supplies to the off (O) position.
5. Disconnect power from the TX Matrix Plus router.
6. Remove the cables that connect to all external devices.
7. Remove all fiield-replaceable units (FRUs) from the TX Matrix Plus router.
8. Remove the TX Matrix Plus router from the rack by placing the mechanical lift router under the TX Matrix Plus router, unscrewing and removing the mounting screws from the rack, and moving the TX Matrix Plus router to the shipping crate.
9. Place the TX Matrix Plus router in the shipping crate or onto the pallet. If on a pallet, bolt the TX Matrix Plus router to the pallet.
10. Cover the TX Matrix Plus router with an ESD bag and place the packing foam on top of and around the TX Matrix Plus router.
11. Replace the accessory box on top of the packing foam.
12. Securely tape the box closed or place the crate cover over the TX Matrix Plus router.
13. Write the RMA number on the exterior of the box to ensure proper tracking.
