Powering Off the T1600 Router

To power off a T1600 router:

  1. On the external management device connected to the Routing Engine, issue the request system halt both-routing-engines operational mode command. The command shuts down both Routing Engines cleanly, so their state information is preserved. (If the router contains only one Routing Engine, issue the request system halt command.)

    user@host> request system halt both-routing-engines

  2. Wait until a message appears on the console confirming that the operating system has halted.
    Halt the system ? [yes,no] (no) yes
    
    *** FINAL System shutdown message from root@section2 ***
    
    System going down IMMEDIATELY
    
    Terminated
    
    ...
    
    syncing disks... 11 8 done
    
    The operating system has halted.
    
    Please press any key to reboot.
    
  3. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
  4. Switch the circuit breakers on each DC power supply faceplate to the off position (O) or switch the power switch on each AC power supply faceplate to the standby position.
