Powering Off the SRX5800 Services Gateway

Note: After powering off a power supply, wait at least 60 seconds before turning it back on.

To power off the services gateway:

1. On the external management device connected to the Routing Engine, issue the request system halt operational mode command. The command shuts down the Routing Engine cleanly, so its state information is preserved.
   
   

   user@host> request system halt
2. Wait until a message appears on the console confirming that the operating system has halted. For more information about the command, see the JUNOS System Basics and Services Command Reference.
3. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
4. Move the AC input switch on the chassis above the AC power supply or the DC circuit breaker on each DC power supply faceplate to the off  (O) position.
