Packing a Line Card Used in an EX8200 Switch
If you are returning a line card to Juniper Networks for repair or replacement, pack it as described in this topic.
Before you begin packing a line card:
- Ensure that you have taken the necessary precautions to prevent ESD damage (see Prevention of Electrostatic Discharge Damage on EX Series Switches).
- Ensure that you know how to handle and store the line card (see Handling and Storing Line Cards in EX8200 Switches).
- Retrieve the original shipping carton and packing materials. Contact your JTAC representative if you do not have these materials, to learn about approved packing materials. See Contacting Customer Support to Obtain Return Materials Authorization for EX Series Switches.
- Obtain an antistatic bag.

Caution: Do not stack line cards on top of one another or on top of any other component. Place each line card separately in an antistatic bag. |
To pack a line card:
- Place the line card in the antistatic bag.
- Place the line card in the shipping carton.
- Place the packing foam on top of and around the line card.
- Close the top of the cardboard shipping box and seal it with packing tape.
- Write the RMA number on the exterior of the box to ensure proper tracking.
