MX960 Chassis Lifting Guidelines
The fully configured chassis with the standard cable manager weighs up to 350 lb (158.76 kg), or 150 lb (68.04 kg) with components removed. With the extended cable manager, the chassis weighs up to 374 lb (169.64 kg), or 174 lb (78.93 kg) with components removed. Observe the following guidelines for lifting and moving the router:
- Before moving the router, read the MX960 Site Preparation Checklist to verify that the intended site meets the specified power, environmental, and clearance requirements.
- Do not attempt to lift a fully configured router by yourself. Using a mechanical lift to maneuver the router into a rack is recommended. If a lift cannot be used, a minimum of three people are required to lift the router, and you must remove components from the chassis before lifting.
- Before lifting or moving the router, disconnect
all external cables.
To lift routing devices and components, use the following lifting guidelines:
- 1 person to lift up to 39.7 lbs (18.0 kg)
- 2 people to lift up to 70.5 lbs (32.0 kg)
- 3 people to lift up to 220 lbs (99.8 kg)
- Use a lift for routing devices or components that weigh over 220 lbs (99.8 kg)
As when lifting any heavy object, lift most of the weight with your legs rather than your back. Keep your knees bent and your back relatively straight and avoid twisting your body as you lift. Balance the load evenly and be sure that your footing is solid.
