TX Matrix Plus Interface Names Overview
SFC and LCC Interfaces
In certain statements and commands in the CLI, you refer to a TX Matrix Plus chassis as sfc (switch-fabric chassis) and to a T1600 router chassis as lcc (line-card chassis).
You can configure a TX Matrix Plus chassis and a T1600 router chassis by including statements at the [edit chassis] and [edit chassis lcc lcc-number] hierarchy levels, where lcc-number is the chassis identifier (ID) of the T1600 router.

Operational commands that reference chassis hardware components—such as TXP-T1600 SIBs, Flexible PIC controllers (FPCs), and PICs—require you to specify either sfc followed by the chassis ID or lcc followed by the chassis ID. For example, to display a list of all hardware components in T1600 router 0 (lcc 0), issue the show chassis hardware command as follows:

To display a list of all hardware components in the TX Matrix Plus router 0 (sfc 0), issue the show chassis hardware command as follows:

Management Ethernet Interface

The router's management Ethernet interface em0 is the interface for connecting network devices to the router through the ETHERNET port on the TXP-CB on the TX Matrix Plus router or the connector interface panel (CIP) on the T1600 router. The Junos OS automatically creates em0, but you must configure its logical interface, em0.0, with a valid IP address before you can use em0 as a management port.
The Junos OS also creates the internal Ethernet interface, ixgbe0, which connects the Routing Engine installed into the TXP-CB in slot CB0 to the Packet Forwarding Engine. If the router has redundant Routing Engines, another internal Ethernet interface, ixgbe1, is created on each Routing Engine in order to support fault tolerance. Two physical links between the Routing Engines connect the independent control planes. If one of the links fails, both Routing Engines can use the other link for IP communication.
When you enter the show interfaces command, the management Ethernet and internal Ethernet interfaces (and logical interfaces) are displayed.

FPC Interface
A routing matrix can contain up to four T1600 routers, and each T1600 router can contain up to eight FPCs (numbered 0 through 7). Therefore, the routing matrix can consist of up to 32 FPCs (numbered 0 through 31). When you specify an FPC in an interface name and within certain commands, the T1600 router that contains that FPC is implicit. Table 1 shows the correspondence between the FPC hardware slot numbers in T1600 routers and the FPC assignments recognized by a routing matrix.

For example, in a routing matrix that contains LCC0 through LCC2, so-20/0/1 refers to FPC slot 4 of LCC2.
