TX Matrix Plus Seven-Input 420-A Power Supplies Overview
Seven-Input 420-A Power Supplies Description
Each seven-input 420-A power supply consists of a removable input power tray with seven inputs (Figure 2), seven 60-A circuit breakers, a fan (each power supply is cooled by its own internal cooling system), and LEDs to monitor the status of the power supply.
Each seven-input 420-A power supply weighs approximately 35.5 lb (16.1 kg). The input power tray weighs 3.7 lb (1.7 kg).
Figure 1 shows the seven-input 420-A power supply.

Seven-Input 420-A Power Supply Load Sharing and Fault Tolerance
When the TX Matrix Plus router is operating normally and both power supplies are switched on, load sharing between them occurs automatically. When one power supply fails or is turned off, the other power supply immediately assumes the entire electrical load for the system. A single power supply can provide full power for as long as the TX Matrix Plus router is operational. Table 1 describes the behavior of the power supply if an input fails.
Table 1: TX Matrix Plus Seven-Input 420-A Power Supply Fault Tolerance
| Redundancy | Fault Tolerance When One Input Fails or Is Disconnected |
|---|---|
Nonredundant power supply | Note: Redundant power supplies are required for the TX Matrix Plus router. A nonredundant power supply is not supported. If inputs 0 through 4 fail, the TX Matrix Plus router shuts down. |
Redundant power supplies | If an input on one power supply fails, the other power supply assumes the electrical load for all inputs. If one input on the other power supply is not functional, the TX Matrix Plus router shuts down. |
