M320 DC Power Supply
In the DC power configuration, the router contains either two or four DC power supplies (see Figure 1), located at the lower rear of the chassis in slots PEM0 through PEM3 (top to bottom). You can upgrade your DC power supply from two to four power supplies. The DC power supplies in slots PEM0 and PEM2, when both are installed, provide load-sharing and power to the FPCs in slots FPC3 through FPC7. The DC power supplies in slots PEM1 and PEM3, when both are installed, provide load-sharing and power to the FPCs in slots FPC0 through FPC2, SIBs, CBs, and Routing Engines. All DC power supplies provide power to the fan trays.
When fully configured with four DC power supplies, the DC power supplies provide full redundancy. The DC power supplies in slots PEM0 and PEM1 can provide full power to the router. Likewise, the DC power supplies in slots PEM2 and PEM3 can also provide full power. The DC power supply in PEM2 serves as the backup to the DC power supply in slot PEM0, and the DC power supply in PEM3 serves as the backup to the DC power supply in slot PEM1.
Each DC power supply has a single DC input (-48 VDC and return) that requires a dedicated 60 A (–48 VDC) circuit breaker. For information about site power preparations, see Site Electrical Wiring Guidelines for M Series, MX Series, and T Series Routers.
