Description

Change the value of a tracking bit (T-bit) field on the LAN prune delay hello option from the default of 1 to 0, which enables join suppression for a multicast interface. When the network starts receiving multiple identical join messages, join suppression triggers a random timer with a value of 66 through 84 milliseconds (1.1 × periodic through 1.4 × periodic, where periodic is 60 seconds). This creates an interval during which no identical join messages are sent. Eventually only one of the identical messages is sent. Join suppression is triggered each time identical messages are sent for the same join.
