Network Access Configuration Overview
The JUNOS Software enables you to configure network access features for the device at the [edit access] hierarchy level. This includes L2TP, PPP, and Subscriber Access configuration.
The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) is an encapsulation protocol for transporting IP traffic across point-to-point links. For M7i, M10i, and M120 routers, you can configure Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) tunneling security services on an Adaptive Services Physical Interface Card (PIC) or a MultiServices PIC.
The L2TP protocol allows Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) to be tunneled within a network.
For a complete hierarchy of access configuration statements, see Access Configuration Statements.
For information about configuring Subscriber Access, see:
- AAA Service Framework for Subscriber Access
- Address-Assignment Pools for Subscriber Access
- DHCP Local Server for Subscriber Access
