Hardware Overview

The JUNOS software runs on four types of Juniper Networks routing platforms: J-series, M-series, MX-series, and T-series. The routing platforms consist of the major hardware components as shown in Table 7. One or more of the major hardware components shown is used in each system.

Flexible PIC Concentrators (FPCs) are each populated by PICs for various interface types. On some routing platforms, the PICs are installed directly in the chassis.
