For CHAP authentication, the value sent in CHAP challenge and response packets on a per interface basis. For PAP authentication, the local hostname for sending PAP authentication requests.
For ATM2 IQ interfaces only, you can configure a CHAP local name on the logical interface unit if the logical interface is configured with one of the following PPP over ATM encapsulation types:
For CHAP authentication, if you do not include the local-name statement in the configuration, the interface sends the routing platform’s system hostname in CHAP challenge and response packets.
