Minimum MSDP Configuration

To enable MSDP on the router, include at least the following statements:




msdp {

local-address address;

peer address;

}

You can include these statements at the following hierarchy levels:

[edit protocols]
[edit routing-instances routing-instance-name protocols]
[edit logical-systems logical-system-name protocols]
[edit routing-instances routing-instance-name logical-systems logical-system-name protocols]

You must configure at least one peer. The peer and the local-address statements are required. You should also configure the router to be a Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) sparse-mode rendezvous point (RP). For more information about configuring PIM, see PIM Configuration Guidelines.
