Repeaters
Repeaters are electronic devices that act on analog signals.
Repeaters relay all electronic signals from one wire to another. A
single repeater can double the distance between two devices on an
Ethernet network. However, the Ethernet specification restricts the
number of repeaters between any two devices on an Ethernet network
to two, because collision detection with latencies increases in complexity
as the wire length and number of repeaters increase.
