J-series Management Ethernet Interface
The JUNOS software automatically creates the routing platform's
management Ethernet interfaces, ge-0/0/0 through ge-0/0/3, which are out-of-band management interfaces
for connecting to the router. To use any of these interfaces as a
management port, you must configure a corresponding logical interface,
such as ge-0/0/0.0, with a valid IP address. When you enter
the show interfaces command, the management Ethernet interfaces
(and logical interfaces) are displayed:
user@host> show interfaces

ge-0/0/0
ge-0/0/0.0
