Example: Adding a Custom Policy Application
Applications are types of traffic for which protocol
standards exist. When you create a policy, you must specify a application
for it.
To add a custom application to the application
book, you need the following information:
- A name for the application: in this example, cust-telnet.
- A range of source port numbers: 1—65535.
- A range of destination port numbers to receive
the application request: for example: 23000—23000.
- Whether the application uses TCP or UDP protocol, or some
other protocol as defined by the Internet specifications.
To add a custom application to the application
book, use either J-Web or the CLI configuration editor. In this example,
the protocol is TCP.
