circuit cross-connect (CCC)—A method of exchanging frames between two router interfaces
running the same Layer 2 protocol, such as ATM, Cisco HDLC, Ethernet,
extended VLAN, Frame Relay, and PPP. For more information about CCC,

translational cross-connect (TCC)—A Juniper Networks method of exchanging frames between two
router interfaces running different Layer 2 protocols, such as ATM,
Cisco HDLC, Ethernet, extended VLAN, Frame Relay, and PPP. For more

Layer 2.5 VPNs—A
method of privately connecting sites across the Internet. Layer 2.5 VPNs
function like Layer 2 VPNs, but connect two sites that use different

Layer 2.5 circuits—A method of privately connecting sites across the Internet.

provider edge router (PE)—Any router that connects customer edge (CE) routers to the
provider core network.
