Monitoring the FEB

You monitor the Forwarding Engine Board (FEB) on an M5 and M10 router to ensure that forwarding processes occur, such as route lookups, incoming data packet allocation, outgoing data packet transfer, and exception and control packet transfer. (See Table 105.)

  1. Check the FEB Connection

Check that the screws at the top of the FEB are securely tightened.

  1. Perform a Swap Test on the FEB
  1. Power down the router.
  2. Remove the FEB.
  3. Replace the FEB with one that you know works.
  1. Display the FEB Hardware Information

  1. Display the FEB Firmware Information

  1. Locate the FEB Serial Number ID Label

Look near the back on the right side of the FEB.
