Configuring IP over a Static Ethernet Interface

To configure IP over an Ethernet interface:

  1. Specify a Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, or 10-Gigabit Ethernet port.
    2. host1(config)#interface fastEthernet 4/1
  2. Create an IP interface.
    3. host1(config-if)#ip address 192.5.127.8 255.255.255.0
