Configuration Tasks

To configure RTR:

1. Configure the probe type—an echo probe or a path echo probe.
2. (Optional) Configure probe characteristics:
   • frequency
   • hops-of-statistics-kept (path echo)
   • max-response-failure (path echo)
   • operations-per-hop (path echo)
   • owner
   • receive-interface
   • request-data-size
   • samples-of-history-kept
   • tag
   • timeout (echo)
   • tos

     Note: You cannot set any of these characteristics until you have set the probe type. The default values of these characteristics depend on the type of the entry.

3. (Optional) Set reaction conditions.
4. Schedule the probe.
5. (Optional) Capture statistics and collect error information.
6. (Optional) Collect history.
