Deploying the Cloud CPE Solution Installer

The location in which you deploy the installer depends on how you provision the virtual machines (VMs):

    • If you use the provisioning tool to create and configure the VMs, deploy the installer directly on the Contrail Service Orchestration node or server.

You can use the provisioning tool if you use the KVM hypervisor on a Contrail Service Orchestration node or server.

    • If you create and configure the VMs manually, create a dedicated VM for the installer on the Contrail Service Orchestration node or server.

You must create and configure the VMs manually if you use a supported hypervisor other than KVM on the on the Contrail Service Orchestration node or server.

    Before You Begin

Before you begin, you must configure the physical servers and nodes in the Contrail Cloud Reference Architecture (CCRA) and install Contrail OpenStack for a centralized deployment.

Creating a Dedicated VM for the Installer

    Before you begin:

    • In a production environment, create csp-installer-vm on the cso-regional-host node.
    • In a demonstration (demo) environment, create csp-installer-vm on the cso-central-host node.

To create a dedicated VM for the installer:

    1. On the Contrail Service Orchestration node or server, create a VM with the name csp-installer-vm and the following resources
      • 4 vCPUs
      • 32 GB RAM
      • 300 GB hard disk storage
    2. Open the ports shown in Table 1 on the VM:

    3. Configure DNS and connectivity to the Internet on the VM.
    4. From the installer VM, verify that you can ping the IP addresses and hostnames of all servers and nodes used in the Cloud CPE solution.

Downloading Third-Party Software and Setting Up the Installer

To download third-party software and deploy the installer:

    1. Log in as root to the installer VM.

The current directory is the home directory.

    2. Copy the installer package to the home directory.
    3. Expand the installer package, which has a name specific to the release. For example, if the name of the installer package is cspVersion.tar.gz:
      root@host:~/# tar –xvf cspVersion.tar.gz

The expanded package is a directory that has the same name as the installer package and contains the installation files.

    4. Access the directory that contains the installation files. For example:
      root@host:~/# cd cspVersion
    5. Download third-party software packages.
      root@host:~/cspVersion# ./download_thirdparty.sh

This action downloads the third-party software required for the deployment.

    6. Set up the installation files.
      root@host:~/cspVersion# ./setup.sh

Setting up the installation files deploys the installer, Salt Master, and the other third-party software packages.
