Guidelines for Migrating from Virtual Control to Network Director

Use the following guidelines for migrating from Junos Space Virtual Control to Network Director

    • Uninstall Virtual Control from the Junos Space appliance.
    • Download the Virtual Control cleanup script and run it from the Junos Space console.

This must be done before you install Network Director Release 1.5 on the Junos Space appliance.

    • Install Network Director.
    • Import the virtual network inventory—Use the virtual network discovery to discover the vCenter from Network Director. You must specify the IP address, username and password for the vCenter server while performing the discovery. For detailed steps, see Discovering Devices in a Virtual Network.
    • Set up physical switch to host associations—If the virtual distributed switch uses Version 5.0 or later, and if LLDP is enabled both on the virtual switch and the physical switch, then Network Director discovers the associations automatically. But, if the virtual switch uses a Version earlier than 5.0 or if it is standalone virtual switch, then you must manually set up the physical switch to host associations. For detailed steps, see Managing Network Adapter Associations.
    • Virtual Switch and Port Group profiles—Network Director Release 1.5 does not support virtual switch and port group profiles. So it is not necessary to import this data in to Network Director.
