    syslog

    Syntax

    syslog {facility level;}

    Hierarchy Level

    [edit services app-engine compute-cluster compute-cluster-name compute-node compute-node-name]

    Description

    Configure system logging facility.

    Configuration changes to syslog are nondestructive, that is, such changes do not require a reboot of the compute node. The exception to this is if it is a management interface.

    Options

    facility

    Group of messages that are either generated by the same software process or concern a similar condition or activity. The following are possible values for facility:

    any

    All facilities.

    authorization

    Authorization system.

    cron

    cron daemon.

    daemon

    Various system processes.

    kernel

    Kernel.

    privileged

    Privileged authorization events.

    syslog

    Syslog messages.

    user

    User processes.

    uucp

    UUCP system.

    local0

    Local 0 messages.

    local1

    Local 1 messages.

    local2

    Local 2 messages.

    local3

    Local 3 messages.

    local4

    Local 4 messages.

    local5

    Local 5 messages.

    local6

    Local 6 messages.

    local7

    Local 7 messages.

    severity

    Classification of effect on functioning. The following are possible values for severity:

    • any—Include all severity levels.
    • emergency—System panic or other condition that causes the routing platform to stop functioning.
    • alert—Conditions that require immediate correction, such as a corrupted system database.
    • critical—Critical conditions, such as hard errors. Hard errors are permanent, unrecoverable errors, such as a disk read error
    • error—Error conditions that generally have less serious consequences than errors in the emergency, alert, and critical levels.
    • warning—Conditions that warrant monitoring.
    • notice—Conditions that are not errors but might warrant special handling.
    • info—Events or nonerror conditions of interest.
    • debug—Debug messages.

    admin—To view this statement in the configuration.

    admin-control—To add this statement to the configuration.
