Monitoring the Maximum Number of IPv6 Prefixes Delegated Per Interface by the DHCPv6 Local Server

Purpose

Determine the maximum number of IPv6 prefixes that can be delegated by the DHCPv6 local server for ATM, Ethernet, VLAN, or POS interface types, or for a particular interface or subinterface.

Action

To determine the maximum number of IPv6 prefixes that can be delegated for ATM, Ethernet, VLAN, or POS interface types, enter the following command:

host1#show ipv6 dhcpv6-local limits

*****************************************
     DHCPv6 Local Server Prefix Limits
ATM Limit - 48000
VLAN Limit - 48000
POS Limit - 48000
Ethernet Limit - 48000

To determine the maximum number of IPv6 prefixes that can be delegated by the DHCPv6 local server to DHCPv6 subscribers per interface and to view the subinterface table details for a particular interface or subinterface, enter the following command:

host1#show ipv6 dhcpv6-local limits interface gigabitEthernet 6/0
           Dhcpv6 Local Interface Limits
           -----------------------------
                                              Total
    Interface Limit Count Denied Denied
------------------ ----- ----- ------ ------
GigabitEthernet6/0 500 0 0 0

To determine the maximum number of IPv6 prefixes that can be delegated by the DHCPv6 local server to DHCPv6 subscribers per interface and to view the subinterface table details for all interfaces, enter the following command:

host1#show ipv6 dhcpv6-local limits interface
           Dhcpv6 Local Interface Limits
           -----------------------------
                                              Total
    Interface Limit Count Denied Denied
------------------ ----- ----- ------ ------
GigabitEthernet6/0 500 0 0 0
ATM5/0.100 1000 0 0 0

Meaning

Table 144 lists the show ipv6 dhcpv6-local limits command output fields.

Table 144: show ipv6 dhcpv6-local limits Output Fields

Field Name

Field Description

ATM Limit

Number of IPv6 prefixes that can be delegated for each VPI or VCI

VLAN Limit

Number of IPv6 prefixes that can be delegated for each VLAN

POS Limit

Number of IPv6 prefixes that can be delegated for each POS access interface

Ethernet Limit

Number of IPv6 prefixes that can be delegated for each Ethernet subnet

Interface

Type of interface and interface specifier. For details about interface types and specifiers, see Interface Types and Specifiers in JunosE Command Reference Guide.

Limit

Number of IPv6 prefixes that can be delegated to the specified interface or subinterface. The limit value configured for the interface type is displayed if no specific limit value is configured for the particular interface.

Count

Number of active IPv6 prefixes delegated on the interface

Denied

Number of IPv6 prefix delegation requests denied during the current denial period. The value is reset to zero (and the denial period restarted) when the number of active delegated IPv6 prefixes no longer exceeds the configured limit.

Total Denied

Total number of IPv6 prefix delegation requests denied on the interface since the interface became active
