Configuring Cloud Analytics Engine on Devices

Cloud Analytics Engine functionality is available starting in Junos OS Release 14.1X53-D15 on supporting QFX Series switches. The Cloud Analytics Engine Junos component accepts, processes, and responds to network probes that the Cloud Analytics Engine Compute Agent sends to communicate application and networking device analytics data.

In the Junos OS Release 14.1X53 release train, Cloud Analytics Engine CLI configuration statements are available in the [edit services analytics] hierarchy. Starting with the Junos OS Release 15.1X53 release train, Cloud Analytics Engine CLI configuration statements are available in the [edit system services cloud-analytics] hierarchy.

In Junos OS Releases prior to 16.1R4, the Cloud Analytics Engine Junos component is enabled by default. When Compute Agent processes are set up and start sending probes, the Junos component processes and responds to them without requiring any configuration steps.

Starting in Junos OS Release 16.1R4, the Cloud Analytics Engine Junos component is disabled by default. Setting any available [edit services analytics cloud-analytics] configuration options automatically enables the Cloud Analytics Engine Junos component to process and respond to Compute Agent probes within the parameters of those configured options.

When probe processing is disabled on a switch while the Compute Agent is generating probe packets, the switch responds to probes the same as for a device that does not support Cloud Analytics Engine—only IP address and hop count information are reported for the device.

  1. To disable Cloud Analytics Engine Junos component probe processing:

    For Junos OS Release 14.1X53:

    set services analytics probe disable

For Junos OS Releases 15.1X53 and later:

set system services cloud-analytics probe disable
  2. To re-enable Cloud Analytics Engine Junos component probe processing after configuring the probe disable option, delete the configured disable statement:

    For Junos OS Release 14.1X53:

    delete services analytics probe disable

For Junos OS Releases 15.1X53 and later:

delete system services cloud-analytics probe disable

  3. In Junos OS Release 16.1R4 and later, where Cloud Analytics Engine Junos component is disabled by default, to automatically enable probe processing, configure one of the supported [edit system services cloud-analytics] CLI statements, such as:
    • mirror—Request to set up a mirror filter on the device

    • traceoptions—Available options for tracing Cloud Analytics Engine Junos component operation

For example, when configuring the mirror option as follows, the Cloud Analytics Engine Junos component is automatically enabled with mirror filtering set up:

    set system services cloud-analytics mirror

    Note

The instance configuration options in the [edit system services cloud-analytics] hierarchy are deprecated and should not be used.
