framing (SONET and SDH Interfaces)

Syntax

Hierarchy Level

Release Information

Statement introduced in Junos OS Release 8.1.

Description

This functionality allows you to mix SONET and SDH modes on interfaces on the same PIC.

  • For the 4-port OC48 PIC with SFP installed and the 4-port OC192 PIC in T Series and M Series routers, configure SONET or SDH framing on a per-port basis.

  • For 1-port OC192/STM64 MICs with XFP on MX Series routers, configure the SONET or SDH framing on the single port.

Note

Per-port framing configuration is applicable for SONET interfaces in concatenated mode (default mode) only. When you configure a PIC or MIC to operate in nonconcatenated mode, the individual channels inherit framing configuration from the [edit chassis fpc number pic number framing (sonet | sdh)] hierarchy level. For per-port framing on SONET/SDH OC3/STM1 (Multi-Rate) MICs with SFP (MIC-3D-8OC3OC12-4OC48) in MX series routers, set the framing at the [edit chassis fpc slot-number pic pic-number port port-number] hierarchy level.

Default

Default framing mode is SONET.

Options

sdh—SDH framing.
